I have always believed that when you decide to do something, you should make every possible effort to be the best at whatever you do. When I chose to become a hairdresser, there was only one place I was heading for, Vidal Sassoon.
After what can only be described as an excellent grounding in our wonderful industry, I started work at a fabulously successful salon in Sussex. I didn’t really appreciate it at the time, but this is where I learned about the ‘Other Stuff” that makes us truly fantastic hairdressers.
Good hairdressers have all got excellent hairdressing skills. Great hairdressers have got the hairdressing skills and superb communication skills, empathy, a desire to help people and a will to be the best they possibly can. This is the other stuff I’m talking about.
After several wonderful years in Sussex, I opened my own salon, eventually employing a team of 23. During this time I realised that my true passion was for educating hairdressers, I enrolled in University part time and achieved my teaching and assessing qualifications.
I closed my salon in 2009 and entered the world of education, working in a private college where students could qualify to Levels 1, 2, 3 and 4 in hair and beauty.
Some years later, the opportunity arose to work as a Foundation Coach alongside Alan Austin Smith at The Fantastic Hairdresser, I couldn’t turn it down.
I am very proud to have joined such a fantastic team of people who are totally dedicated to helping the professional salon industry grow and get the recognition and rewards that are deserved.
""Fantastic Hairdresser Coaching has truly inspired me to be the Business owner I've always wanted to be! It's made me get over the fear of asking the questions I needed ask, to make me truly understand the business side of being a salon owner - and the importance of making the profit I need and want." "
""I've found coaching to be such an amazing help for me. It's made me get focused and really believe that I can take my business to the next level as well as gaining clarity of what I want and how to set clear goals to achieve this. When a Fantastic Hairdresser Coach brings their knowledge and experience plus great tips and ideas, it really is fantastic - I couldn't recommend it enough. It's helped me massively." "
"“I only signed up for a Fantastic Coach about 5 weeks ago and already it has motivated me to make changes in my business that will have a massive impact. I was feeling a bit stuck and wasn’t sure where my business was going to go but now I feel so motivated and excited about where my business is going and that is thanks to my amazing coach Colin. Colin has such great knowledge of the hairdressing business and understands it from a hairdressers and salon managers point of view which is the perfect combination for a great coach. He is encouraging and supportive and I love that he gives me gentle reminders about tasks but it never feels pushy. I really can’t wait to see what happens to my business over the next few months and years now! "

DONATE £5 NOWIt's OK - There are options in the questions to indicate you don't have the relevant information. This is the strength of this process though - if we are asking for information you don't have, that's a learning for you straight away!
Remember this process is not about judgement, it's about identifying the imbalances and gaps in your business so that you know where to put your focus in the future.
Haha - neither was I when I first started - but The Fantastic Hairdresser changed all that!
Alan Austin-Smith has a way of explaining 'business' in a way that makes sense - it's so simple.
He was a hairdresser himself and I think that's what makes it all so understandable.
However, this process is not about judgement - it's about learning, growing and taking the cation to create a successful profitable business.
Of course you are - and you should be! That's why this first step has been designed so that you don't have to share any intimate information about your business.
The questionaire is in two parts - the first is identifying what you do or don't do - where are the gaps.
So for example you might be asked if you run regular team meetings - the questionaire is multiple choice so depending on which answer you choose helps me to help you!
The second part is brilliant as it focuses on your leadership personality - you will find it fascinating - I promise!
It's fine... No obligation remember!
If you know the Fantastic Hairdresser then you know it's been built over a 30 year period on integrity and authenticity.
So when we say - no strings, no obligation, no commitment - WE MEAN IT!
If you don't know us - then see above :)
I promise you that there is no obligation to do anything more.
Now, of course I want you to work with me on your 90 day plan, for both of us! I want to help your business be more successful and profitable however, when I do, it makes my business more successful - that's called a Win-Win!
But...
I promise that if you decide to continue working with me it's because you can see the value I can bring - not because of any heavy sales calls or constantly pestering you! (The only time I might pester you is if you need it during the INVESTIGATE process :) and thats because I'm a coach, haha, it's my job!!)
